Happy Mothers' Day to all the lovely ladies out there.
At last night's Birthday dinner at Joes' (kindly sponsored by our friend Judy) Cristina received a lovely Murano necklace from Venice as a gift from friends Mark & Karen.  Good friends like this are always in our hearts.
Today another celebration was in order for Mothers' Day.  It seems so weird that after 60 odd years I can't personally wish my Mom a Happy Mothers' Day for the first time.
We had seen some sales tents along the Tomebamba last night so that was the desired destination today.  First though, I had a craving for pizza so we were headed to Millenium Mall but spotted a Chinese food place below Coopera lawyer Dr Quito's office and the meal offerings on the windows looked intriguingly tasty.  We ended up staying with our choices from the window pictures, breaded beef for Cristina, and sweet & sour breaded shrimp for me.  Both meals were a very good size so we enjoyed watching a spirited tennis match between the two top male players in the world while we emptied both plates.  I don't like to recommend food places too much, but we really enjoyed both meals!
Then we waddled over to the artisan's tents across and east from Banco Pichincha.  Our first purchase always seems to be costume jewelry ($10), ... then another jewelry box ($13).  I took a liking to a metal sculpture of a stylized crucifixion but figured it would be out of my price range.  We looked at a lot of artworks and clothing.  Before leaving I decided to at least check out the price of that metal sculpture, expecting an answer of $95 or so.  When she offered it for $18 (about a dollar per inch) I had my hand in my wallet before she changed her mind...   It looks awesome on our living room wall.
I hope you enjoy the photos.  That was the day's excitement,   Cheers, Al
