Tonight we took in a concert with the Symphony Orchestra Of Cuenca at the Pumapungo Theater at Banco Central. The conductor was Patricio Mora Yanza and the guest soloist was our Italian friend Umberto Ballone.
We got there early, expecting a very large crowd on a lovely Friday evening and were surprised to be about 10th in line. We were even more surprised when they opened the doors more than 1/2 hour before the performance!
The crowd slowly grew during that 1/2 hour to almost fill the auditorium to capacity.
The orchestra played one tune on their own before Umberto came out and did 10 songs, 3 in Spanish. For a fellow who decided to take up singing so late in life, Umberto puts on a good show.
We skipped the last number to beat the crowd outside to get a taxi along Huayna Capac. Luckily we did not have to wait long.
I hope you enjoy the photos. That was the day's
excitement, Cheers,
Al
