Happy first day of fall, ...... in the southern hemisphere....
Today is a holiday in Colombia but nobody seems to know what for...
The ladies were busy cleaning house and we were waiting for the arrival of Miguel & Adiela's daughter, Natalia, from University in Cali, where she is taking Industrial Engineering.
Then 4 of us went on the motorcycles/scooters to the animal foundation where Adiela volunteers.  She is especially interested in helping a particular abused animal there, a pitbull called Tyson.  Tyson has improved immensely under her care.  There is an abandoned/stolen horse that is in rough shape, with malnutrition, sores, and more.  It is easy to see how soft hearts like Adiela and Cristina gravitate to healing these poor, abused animals who just want to be loved.
We came back home and waited a few minutes for Natalia to join us on a small jaunt which she ran along with her dog Phoebe.  Phoebe is very young and has loads of energy to burn off.  We stopped and had some fruit treats in an area that caters to those guilty pleasures.  When we park the bikes, a fellow comes along and covers the seats with cardboard to save them from the heat of the sun, then he guards the line-up of bikes, all for a small fee, of course.
Natalia trotted back home while I satisfied a craving for some strudel-like pastry.  Then the 4 of us rode over to that park from last night and were greeted by a lot of flocking.  People flocked to the park to watch the egret flocks flock to the big flocking tree on the lake.  Hundreds of white egrets turn the green tree to white for the night, then they leave again at dawn.   I discarded a lot of shots taken in the failing light but am quite happy with the ones I kept.   Cristina told me to take a video as well, so that is now on YouTube:  https://youtu.be/pM8dMx034Vk
I hope you enjoy the photos and video.  That was the day's excitement,   Cheers, Al

Some of the rescue animals in this small place

Adiela and Tyson.  I wouldn't want him biting my ear off.

This poor horse just ate and ate and ate

The signs of abuse are so obvious

This is fruit, ice cream and whole milk

Natalia and her jogging partner Phoebe

The guy seated on the right is the bike guardian

One lady decided to wade in the river

We bought a few items from this cutie's parents' booth

The Egret Tree(s), with reflection

Hundreds of egrets weigh down the branches

It really is an amazing sight

I figure that they flock in from the nearby fields

They all jockey for a good spot

Moving to a different spot, again, and again

A late arrival

Capturing a high spot

Surveying the scenery

Then closing up the wings

Still more cruising in

How pretty is this??!!

Always room for one more.
