Thursday March 31, 2016
Sorry that the camera has seen no action the past few days.  With Cristina's cosmetic surgery, and subsequent post-op care, we have only really been out shopping and not much exciting happening.
Today however we went not far away to a place where they train dogs.  Three brothers rent this location which is a former Italian restaurant with a monster yard bordering a creek or river.   They have lots of fenced off open areas, so far mostly separating dogs by size.
I fell in love immediately with the place itself, the large yard, the shade trees, and the large house with interior courtyard.   It could be a money pit but this was the first property in Colombia that I would consider buying.  No harm in enjoying the visit.
There were many dogs on the premises, including some babies (maybe rottweilers?) and 2 of those were sick so a vet was visiting while we were there.  One of the dogs wanted to play tug-of-war with Cristina's towel and she was loving it.  One young female pitbull was probably the first pitbull that I would consider having...
Then we went shopping for necessities and Cristina finally talked me into buying a pair of runners.  Clothes are definitely better quality and cheaper in Colombia.  I hope I don't have trouble with customs tomorrow....
I hope you enjoy the photos.  That was the day's excitement,   Cheers, Al

This is the back end of the property next to this river

Hmmm, is that an Ibis???

Looking back to the the front of the property (see the house)

This turkey was strutting his stuff

How much is that GOAT in the window???

Pitbull and a lot of baby Rotties

This poor pup is apparently ill.  We got him out of the sun...

Playing tog-of-war with a cone-head

Cristina was enjoying it

Friday March 25, 2016 Part 2
Cristina decided that we should kill some of the afternoon by going to local park, then the cemetery.
The park was pretty busy with lots of places for the people to get under water and get cool.   Nobody was playing on the sports fields.
It is now 6:30 at night, dusk is falling, and it is still 32C, and supposed to go to the cool low of 26C...   The next 2 days are really more of the same.   I find myself praying for rain.   Another 6 days to get back to reasonable temperatures,.... counting the days.
The cemetery was quite different, no statues, just lightly sloped headstones sitting on cut out mounds of dirt held together by roots of vegetation planted above.  Most of the graves are decorated with flowers.  The headstones are really poor with most of the writing fading or washing away.
We walked home for a bit, passing a sign for a plastic surgeon that I doubt that you would see in North America...  You judge....
I hope you enjoy the photos.  That was the day's excitement,   Cheers, Al

I can't take the heat so I have to get out of the kitchen....

Interesting statue inside the park entrance

I'm heavier... what can I say....

People enjoying the wet

A man-made river cools off a lot of people

The ducks didn't stray far from the water either

These huts are a neat way to escape

The big swimming pool was popular

This is a cemetery

The gravesites were very unusual

Most are nicely decorated

Front of the sexy sign for a plastic surgeon

Would you see this in Canada??  I doubt it...

Good Friday March 25, 2016
At 9:15 it was 28C, heading to 34C (for 3 days too).  The Colombians are complaining louder than me!
We made a mistake in guessing the time of the Good Friday processions, but some skilful questioning allowed us to catch the Good Friday procession near the end.
The Good Friday celebrations here are about 1/10th the size of those in Ecuador, as this country is not nearly as Catholic.
We then went to another main church but it was long over there.
Happy Easter.
I hope you enjoy the photos.  That was the day's excitement,   Cheers, Al

Yup, the heat is getting to the dogs too.

This church was awaiting the crowds

Too hot for these to join the procession

I like the steeple(s)

We caught up to the procession 2 blocks away

A few people

About 6 statues being carried

The carriers are in the colored robes

Nice statues, in good shape

I like this one representing the crucifixion

Good Friday personified

Heading to the church

A little artistic licence

I eliminated a lot od wires in this one

My shot of the day

Making it into the church

All the people are happy to get cooler

All the statues come in

Jesus comes in last

Standing room only, not a big church

Nothing happening at this other church

They were closing the doors on us
