Thursday July , 2015
To bed last night at 10:30 and up this morning at 5am, but I got I lot accomplished before Spanish class.  We had another lovely substitute teacher today named Angelika and we had a productive lesson.
I actually rode my scooter to class and then continued to the market just off of 10 De Agosto and Solano.  I had bought a large backpack there a year or so ago and wanted another but could not find anyone who had them.
My next stop, a few blocks away, was at the office of our lawyer who is handling our lawsuit against the liquidators of Coopera.  Our original lawsuit was denied a hearing unless a change is made, apparently because the liquidation is still ongoing.  So, we all have to sign that we agree to this change and hopefully the lawsuit will proceed again.
Since I was so close anyway, I rode the scooter to El Centro to San Francisco Square where I knew there definitely were 2 or 3 sellers of quality backpacks and I did indeed find what I was looking for.  The sun was so warm that the leather jacket went into the backpack for the ride home.
I had a late lunch then decided I needed to practice my riding more so I headed east to Ucubamba.  I had warned Mike and Lotis that I was coming and we caught up on our gossip.  Last night a transformer had blown in the area and they were without power for about two hours.  My route was a direct line from my house to theirs, following the Tomebamba.
As I left there, I tried following Mike's directions to a road to the top of the big flat mountain to the east.  I expect that there is a great view of Cuenca from there, and the sun was shining, so why not??  Except it appeared that there had been a landslide, because the road was completely blocked by a backhoe trying to clear the road.  Oh well, I will save that for another day.
I hope you enjoy the photos.  That was the day's excitement,   Cheers, Al
