My friend Brenda, who lives upstairs in the building, had kindly asked me to accompany her to watch events at the Highland Games way in south Edmonton today. She has a nice vehicle and even had a nice little wagon for pulling lawn chairs, cooler, etc. Even though the weather was a bit iffy, we grabbed sandwiches at Save-On and away we went.
As we arrived, people were practicing the Hammer Throw as well as Tossing The Caber, so I managed to get a few shots. I wouldn't want those ladies throwing things at me like that!!!
Lots of tartans and kilts, and many daggers and dubhs that made me wonder if any were made by my brother-in-law, Brian...
They had a group of Scottish Folk Dancers that entertained occasionally, children dancing, and pipe bands that competed and were rated. The people with the medium-sized drums had soft pom-pom sticks that they could twirl at intervals, and that was very entertaining.
All in all, it was a great way to spend the day.
Oh, and 2 short movies, but one was too big to put here.....:
I hope you enjoy the pictures. I did not bother with many captions.
That was the day’s excitement.
