Sunday November 20, 2016
This morning I was in El Centro early to meet new arrivals Tom & Diane again. Because most things are closed Sunday, we decided to hop on the double decker tour bus and we were again blessed with magnifiecent weather. The tour is a quick way to give new folks a quick overview of Cuenca, especially from the Mirador del Turi. From that vantage point it is easy to point out the landmarks. The return trip along Avenida Loja, aka the Inca Trail, is always a highlight, pointed right at the New Cathedral.
We then saw some musicians preforming in the Glorieta of Parque Calderon before visiting the Museum in the Old Cathedral. There were a lot of changes in the back of the Cathedral, including the addition of a Mexican restaurant.
We had lunch at a new Buffet located at Borrero and Cordova. We opted for the cheaper Executive menu and the food was so-so, nothing to write home about.
We took our time walking back and then I headed home to help Cristina prepare for company. I will see these folks again Thursday at Thanksgiving dinner at Joes'.
Cristina had invited a few new friends for a typical Colombian meal. The dogs behaved themselves and we enjoyed good music and conversation.
I hope you enjoy the photos. That was the day's excitement. Cheers, Al
