Yup, Sunday, Igor and I got in sync for a trip to the canyons in the USA !! He has bought a bike and has a camping van parked in Denver. The plan is that I will meet him mid-September probably around Salt lake City. Who knows,.... I might even make my third visit to Yellowstone after almost 50 years!!
Don came down in time Sunday night to catch the winning goal by Winnipeg to put them in the playoffs. We still have 3 Canadian teams in the running... They say it is 32 years since a Canadian team has won the Stanley Cup! So we are due... While I hope the Oilers are the eventual winners, I could be coaxed to cheer for the Toronto Maple Leafs or the Winnipeg Jets if they make it instead...
Today, I checked to see if it was worth buying a Nexus card for ease of bypassing line-ups at USA border stations and airports. I ended up calling the Canadian Western information office and the nice lady was direct,.. it may take 1.5 years to get it once you jump through all their hoops.... Glad I called to check!
At 1:23pm today, I got a call from the doorway saying they had a package to deliver to me.... Huh??? I was not expecting anything... So, imagine my surprise when my new Nikon Coolpix P1100 showed up unannounced..!!!!!
I took my time with it and did a modest set of test shots because I need to read up a lot more about it handle it properly. But initial impressions are excellent. The unzoomed shots are clear and sharp, and the far zoomed shots are incredible!!!!!! They will be better when I use a monopod or tripod, because the camera is heavy to hold for precise long focus. The zoom is unbelievable,...... 10 times more powerful than my D5600 !!!!!! You will see that in the photos below.
So, I am very excited now, especially with the September trip in the offing!
