Today I had Bob ride here on his new scooter and we began a short odyssey at the Legislature grounds nearby. Yesterday I had stumbled upon the set-up for a celebration for the Paramedics of the province who do amazing work.... I had expected to arrive during the speechmaking, etc., because I was told it was likely to begin at 10am, but they were still setting up. They had booths with stuff to sell, snack foods, and stuff to give away. The bagpipers were tuning up and Paramedic students were the ones manning almost everything.... I was hoping to run into Willy Lauder, a paramedic that I coached in hockey in the late 70's...
The Legislature grounds at the front had all the fountains going and many kids braving the waters at 17C and a good breeze... They looked cold and I felt sorry for them.
From there we headed for the Farmer's Market on 104 St, all in tents and selling way overpriced vegetables, wines, brownies and more. My Prairie Cedar Creations fellow, Darrell, was there and I bought the 2 "meshed" charcuterie boards for $95 plus tax.
We ran into Bob's son Dylan and his wife there with their adorable Corgi dog. Dylan is a restaurant manager nearby. They apparently will be opening soon, maybe next Thursday with The Oiler greats McDavid and Draisaitl attending. We will have to get invitations....
We also ran into a very knowledgeable guy on a 3-wheel electric bike of his own manufacture. His bike can travel 250 kms on a charge and he went across canada in 17 days to raise money for the Disabled.
Then Bob said they had a small Flea Market on the sidewalk at his place so we headed there. My Gio was a big hit with all the seniors there. People were super anxious to get rid of stuff and we got some incredible bargains... Bob got a Queen sheet set, new, for $1..... I got a luggage trolley for $1...
Now, it is still early and I have combined the 2 charcuterie boards with Gorilla Glue and tape and installed them on my bedroom wall. I could never cut on them or even use them to serve meats and veggies...
Hugs to everyone.
I hope you enjoy the pictures. That was the day’s excitement.
