Today is a tough day for me, and especially Cristina, as it would be the 28th Birthday of her only son, and sadly also the 6th anniversary of his senseless murder by the wicked stepmother who has never been charged. RIP dear Christian. You are missed so very much......
Monday morning, we responded to a request to contribute to the capital fund for the social clubs of the two Manoirs who are funded by the interest gained in the investment. Bob and I spoke to the Manager here to confirm the details before we opened our wallets.
The package of thermal underwear that I ordered from Walmart Nov 9 finally arrived. Upon opening the package and spreading the item on the bed I knew this was another crap Chinese purchase. The items were supposedly size XL, and they may have fit me 60 years ago, but they were certainly not XL in our sizes.... Grrrrrr
My new driver's licence with my new address arrived Monday. It is very strange that a plastic holographic card can be printed and sent quicker than a simple paper document from Blue Cross....
I finally decided to cook a package of Honey garlic ribs and invited Bob for supper. I am the master of the 15-minute meal once again... It turned out much better than I expected.... The instant Idahoan mashed potatoes are a godsend.
This morning, I was up way too early and got nasty with Walmart online over their practices of splitting up our orders and having them arrive on widely separated dates and angrily told them to cancel all my orders if they couldn't have them arrive on the date wanted..
Later, Bob and I went to Walmart physically, him for some groceries, and me supposedly to pick up a small $10 frying pan I had ordered... Then the fun began again.... Bloody Walmart had cancelled my frypan order and there wasn't one on the shelf, so I was leaving empty handed. I returned the thermal underwear and received a paper plus an email confirming the return but have yet to see the money back in my bank account for either that or the frypan! While standing there, I got an email that the little fan that I ordered would be in tomorrow.... More split order fun.... Grrr..... But, I really do want to receive the fan....
Then I stopped at Save-On Foods on the way home to get a few groceries of my own. The salad kits that I usually get were all high priced with bad best-before dates so I bought 2 red cabbage instead. I haven't done cabbage salads in a long while and am not sure that I have containers to hold the cut cabbage... The milk I usually buy had only 1 quart on the shelf. The sleep-aid Melatonin was not in the sleep-aid section, but hidden with the vitamins.. The Magnesium I was recommended to take with the Melatonin was nowhere to be found.. I was so mad, I left, only to return later to pick up a couple of items that I had forgotten.
After dumping groceries, I took a little run downtown. At my daughter's suggestion, I bought a restaurant gift certificate for one Xmas recipient, and a hotel gift certificate for another. I had sent money via Interac to both my children for their families, so my Xmas shopping is complete!
While downtown, I rode the funicular down below the MacDonald Hotel in my Gio and took a few shots in the setting sun of the river valley, with a steady flow of ice still going by....
Not finished, I rode over to Little Caesar's and ordered the 3-meat pizza special, not ready-to-go anymore, but ready in 7 minutes... Then the gal says something about the cook had messed up on the meats so they would give me an additional pizza with the proper meats,.. so 2 pizzas for the $13.99..!!! I called Bob and Don, and we had a feast while watching 3 hockey games.
