Yesterday, I did something I haven't done in a very long time.... There is a group of 4 or 5 cribbage players here that gather in the common room to play usually around 3pm and again at 8pm. Since they were short 2 players for a foursome this day, I was asked to join in, along with another substitute. Myself and the sub, Marie, soundly beat Marlene and Therese 3 games straight. My partner Marie was solid, Marlene was a solid pegger, a tough opponent, and dear Therese is still learning.
I was watching good hockey and curling in the evening when the group buzzed me from the door to come be a fourth again. I gave in. I can watch TV anytime.... This time I was partnered with Therese against Marlene and Robin, another male tenant. They soundly beat us 3 game straight, so I was even on the day...
Today, I was up early and contacted Don to see if he was game for a trip to West Edmonton Mall. He was, so that saved me traveling by bus because he has a Toyota Sienna van, and I paid for the gas. I had looked up online for the location of Lammle's Western Wear in the Mall and had Don drop me off at the far west end accordingly while he went shopping at a Chinese grocery above. Naturally, the store was not where indicated, it was at the entire opposite end of the Mall!!! Why does that happen to me EVERY time?????
I am hoping to go to the Club du Soleil dance Saturday night, especially because their new hall is relatively close, and also because they are having a country band playing... so I can two-step the night away! My only problem is that all my western gear was unfortunately left behind in Colombia, so I needed decent clothes. Young Mackenzie of Lammle's was very helpful as I picked out comfortable boots, a decent shirt and pants, a boot jack and boot polish to the tune of $539.00. Thank you to Service Canada for supplying my GIS backpay a couple of days ago....
I had invited Ghyslaine and the lady from Wednesday's FAFA course, Melanie, for pizza, movie and popcorn at 6pm. Neither showed up, which was very, very disappointing for me.
So the night was spent watching more curling, hockey, and an old Disney movie. I was also part-way through Rambo II when I decided to get to bed.
