As described yesterday, I went to my closest bank branch but they had no open slots for appointments for 2 weeks. I made an appointment for the downtown branch there but that was nixed by my daughter due to parking problems.
While there, a young man came in to ask for change for a $20 bill. The security guard sent him away because he did not have an account there!
I came home and called Online banking again and explained the situation. We made an appointment for 1:15 at a "Banking Center" in the University area where they seemed to have multiple openings. We had a moment of panic as my daughter had misplaced her wallet and ID when we arrived, but luckily found it in time.
Then, even though we had a name of a person, time, and confirmation number, the branch had no record of any appointment and they were completely booked... There was no offer to try to fit us in under the circumstances, nothing.... I was fit to be tied!
I came home and once again called Online banking to lodge a complaint. Now they said that the appointment was somehow made by a "roving associate" for a wrong associate to help for our needs.... Everything is geared to help people with investments.
So they searched again and we made an appointment at a far north branch for Friday. I actually got a call from that associate and explained that I just wanted to add another signatory to my account. He called again and asked who is Bella, (my ex) and was she going to accompany us??? WTF??? I explained that we have been divorced for 9 years and she lives in Ecuador, and I did not care if she remained a signatory. "Oh, but Sir, there can only be 2 signatories on the account!" I lost it then and there.
The only way to solve my problem is to open new accounts which, of course, ruins all the set-ups for automatic payments and deposits.... I am still shaking my head!
Even after I cooled down somewhat, I called to expand my complaint to Online Banking. I worked in a Bank from 1968-1971 when we still used punch-crank calculators and everything was done by hand and on paper. People lined up at individual tellers and everyone was processed quickly and efficiently. There are many nice people in the banks but the new systems and silly rules are no longer condicive to customer service.
And, while I am ranting, during the Women's World Cup Soccer telecasts, my bank was advertising their Global Money Transfer (which I have used efficiently) bragging that they they charge no fees on the service. This is completely untrue, when they take around 4% of the exchange rate for themselves...........
It truly was an awful day.
I hope you enjoy the pictures. That was the day’s excitement.
