I went to my usual physio at 11am then waited to meet Cristina at 12 to go for her appointment at Oncology at 12:45. We got in close to 1pm with a young Doctor named Daisy, I think.
After looking at the multitude of tests Cristina has gone through she explained that the bleeding problems are menopausal and the headache problems are something else not connected.
Then she confirmed that there is a tumor on the right ovary and they intend to remove both tumor and the one ovary only first. If the tumor is benign, nothing further needs to be done except hormonal therapy. If it is malignant, then they would do a complete hysterectomy which is what Cristina has wanted done in the first place.
So now she needs a blood test followed by a heart test on Monday. And so the waiting continues but we are trying to stay positive all the way. The stress of this is wearing on both of us. The good things about Ecuador is that when they do decide to operate you only wait a few days, not months or years.
That was the day’s excitement.
Cheers, Al
