I apologize that battling a cold, bad weather, etc has meant that the camera has been its holster while we made preparations for the Oldies But Goodies dance, Cristina's son's arrival, and our visit to Immigration tomorrow.
We had 67 people register for our dance and a really disappointing turnout of 36 dancers! This is not to take away from the enthusiasm of the 36 party people, everybody had a very good time. There is no way to make up for the missing people and it really shows how much the gringo community here are really fair-weather friends. In spite of a beautiful, but cool, evening, it was a complete shock to have so few people come out.
Our buddy Oswaldo was on hand to help us rush to the bus station immediately following the dance to await the expected arrival of Cristina's son, Christian. We had anticipated that he was leaving Quito around 2pm so we expected his arrival to be near 10:30 - 11:00. We shivered in the cold terminal until 1:45am when his bus finally arrived. Needless to say we were very relieved to see his happy face. After about 38 hours of traveling, we are sure that he will be happy to snooze in a good bed for a long while.
He is such a delightful boy, so we intend to be very busy playing tour guide for the next couple of weeks, once we tackle the final steps to get Cristina's 9-IV visa on Wednesday (then the Cedula process too).
I hope you enjoy the photos. That was the day's
excitement, Cheers,
Al
