If you have read my cuencaresidency.blogspot.com Blog, then you know that I get very frustrated at the silliness of things here.  Today was another of those days.
I had bought a Movie Basket at the Hearts Of Gold Christmas Gala and one of the items in that basket were 6 complimentary movie tickets to Multicines.  Since they expire in 10 days....  go figure...., we decided we would go to see Star Wars in 2D, in Spanish, because of restrictions on the ticket, to be used only Monday to Thursday, at Millenium Mall or Mall Del Rio.
We get to the theater and they say that we can't use the tickets for any movies with a big red "R" on them, which meant every movie, except "Victor Frankenstein", only in Spanish, which had started a 1/2 hour before.  I was livid!  How can a huge company like this offer complimentary tickets to a charity, then add so many restrictions as to make them virtually useless????    It was my first, and now probably my last, time at Multicines.
Leaving the mall we see a sign for 75c cones so I purchase 3, except they don't give us cones, they give us Styrofoam bowls with spoons.  Why advertise cones if you are not going to supply cones???   Grrrrrrr...
The day's silliness isn't over....  We decided to walk over to the Pumapungo ruins only to find the lower gates locked, so we had to climb the hill up to Banco Central.  Jeepers, since we are at the doorway, we may as well show Christian the museum... yes?  Sure enough, they are closed Mondays....  My mood stayed decidedly darker as we are trying to show Christian the wonders of Cuenca and the only wonder is how everyone today hasn't got a single clue about providing customer service....
We went down to see the aviary and the ruins, and picked up an extra passenger as a white duck decided to attach himself to our group.  He was actually the highlight of this altogether miserable day.  The peacocks were not performing today either, so it was a pretty quick tour.
Needless to say, I am glad to be back in the sanity of my own home.
I hope you enjoy the poor photos, taken with the little camera.  That was the day's excitement,   Cheers, Al

Our new friend stayed with us for a long time

Basically mooching for food that we did not have

They probably don't want us feeding them either
