Well the day finally arrived for the 4th annual Hearts Of Gold Christmas Gala. While I was not involved much in the organization of this year's event, I did volunteer to help with the set-up in the morning and then to photograph mainly during the VIP portion.
I was kinda surprised to see that there were 4 photographers assigned to the event but nobody stepped on anyone else's toes.
Congrats to the HoG team, led by Event Coordinator Miriam Luse for pulling off another successful Gala.
Attendance was down about 100 from last year, mainly due to a competing charity event running a month before ours. However our crowd was loyal, enthusiastic, and opened their wallets to help the worthy causes.
Quinta Lucrecia again supplied a superlative meal and the speeches were kept to a minimum, so the event was a hit with the patrons.
There were 3 music acts, Umberto Ballone (our resident Frank Sinatra), Remanso (I think this duo is from Argentina), and the new local rock band, Lavadora Blues. The rock band was excessively loud for a long while.
A complete version of Karma occurred last night and it was a beauty to behold. One of the live auction items was the infamous gold coin that keeps getting purchased and re-donated. The current value was $1,300 but dear Inge Palmer bid $2,000 for it and promptly kept up the tradition of re-donating the coin!
Then then raffle draw for the car was held and the winner was the generous Inge Palmer!!! Talk about a heart-warming and just result!
