Yesterday we had another frustrating hearing in court for the Coopera investors trying to force the Government Agencies to stop hiding their actions. Corruption is alive and well in Ecuador with judges appointed by the Government. If we found just one honest judge, all these characters could end up in jail but they are not afraid, nobody wants to stand up to the crooked Government.
Today I had to get a halogen bulb replaced, my left headlight, so I went to the mechanic and they took about 1/2 hour to test everything, get the bulb out, then ride a bike to an electrical place, and then re-install everything. The bulb was $8.30 and he charged me a whole $2 for his work! Try to get that done in Canada or the US at a mechanic....
I knew that, around the corner from the mechanic in Totoracocha that there was supposed to be 3 days of gymnastic competition so I stopped in for a bit. I did not see any competition but rather interesting instruction to young boys on many of the different apparatus. It brought back a lot of childhood memories of when I was 80 lbs soaking wet and able to do most of these moves. I still think I could do most of the moves but I would probably wreck something in the process... lol. There were also several artists painting wonderful gymnastic scenes on the wall in this huge structure.
The roadwork continues on our street and, typical of most city work crews, it seems like a make-work project where they are paid by the hour to add dirt, then asphalt chunks, grade it, pack it, then rip it up and do it over several times.... Hopefully the final paving work will be done Monday as promised.
Hope you enjoy the photos. That was the day's excitement, Cheers, Al
