Today we had another quick volunteer meeting at Hearts Of Gold then I had a delicious burger at California Kitchen while waiting for my next volunteer event.
“La Alianza Francesa De Cuenca Presenta Tres Dias De Musica Gratuita” or, “The Alliance Francaise Of Cuenca Presents Three Days Of Free Music” at 33 locations, with 83 bands with 420 musicians.  I don’t know the total number of volunteers, but there are 40 photographers.
The kickoff was the Cuenca Symphony at the Teatro Carlos Cueva Tamariz near the main University.  The venue is truly world-class and a pleasure to visit.
There were at least 4 volunteer photographers plus at least 2 press photographers plus innumerable amateurs in the audience.  Very few were heeding the “no flash” rule.
The organizers have asked us to combine photos of the venue, posters, organizers, musicians and crowd and submit about 30 photos overall.   This will be a hard choice because I still have to cover 4 more venues tomorrow...
The event was to begin at 7pm, and the Symphony is usually fairly prompt but tonight was definitely on “Ecuador time”.  There were too many interminably boring speeches, all in Spanish, for a ½ hour.  Musicians were still showing up at 8pm when the performance actually started.  The pianist was fun to watch, but otherwise the music selection was pretty boring, certainly not toe-tapping material.  They played only about 40 minutes and it was over….
When I got home I had no internet and there still was no reception Friday morning, so I apologize for the delay in posting this.
NOTE that you may click on any photo for an ENLARGED VIEW.
Hope you enjoy the photos.  That was the day's excitement,   Cheers, Al

It is a rather large Orchestra for such a small city

I am naturally drawn to the violins

Capturing motion without a flash is real tricky
