Friday June 6, 2014
To be honest, I have no idea of the name of the event that I attended in the morning, just that it was a school dance display along with a gastronomic presentation.  I was asked by a friend to take photos of her two children dancing, especially the little girl that she calls Miss Colombia.
The celebration included a food court on the upper level of the school, right beside Todos Santos church.  They had singers throughout the event and many children speaking about the various dishes that were available.  Half of these dissertations were given in English, which really surprised me because I was again the only white face in the crowd, so it tended to make me feel conspicuous and somewhat special, lol.   Maybe they had expected a large group of Gringos to attend but the uncertain weather kept them at home??  The weather was sprinkly and cool but not bad at all really.
The event started at 9am and by noon I was getting really anxious because Miss Colombia's Grade 2 class still had not performed.  I had to be at the Hearts Of Gold office by 12:30 so I made an executive decision to stay until 12:15 then catch a cab.  Luckily this class started by 12:10 and I was able to get several shots before being forced to leave.
At Hearts Of Gold we all piled into two vehicles to go execute a final check logistics at Caballo Campana, and to consume a test meal, in advance of the planned July 5 BBQ Barn Dance.  The venue is very impressive and the owners seem very anxious to do a superlative job for us.  The test meal was very good, especially the ribs which were done in a boneless steak fashion.  They are sure to be a hit with all our patrons, except the vegans...
Then I wandered through the huge market, Feria Libre, for a while prior to joining my friends Mark and Karen for a lovely supper and lively conversation.
This week I have been very busy working on photographs, many of which will be posted for sale, and on Facebook, for sale.
Tomorrow is my son, Todd's birthday.   Happy Birthday Todd.
