Sunday January 18, 2026

I was up last night until almost 1am to see my Oilers blank the Canucks 6-0, all goals in the second period.  These time zone differences are a killer.  Prior to that our Canadian under-18 women have moved on to the finals against the tough USA later tonight...  I won't miss that game!!!

A lot of the news lately has been about thousands of American ICE agents descending on Minnesota to create an example for the country, to deport supposed illegal aliens.  They pick up non-white people anywhere, bus stops, restaurants, workplaces, and beat up any resistance.  Valid papers mean nothing to these Gestapo @$$6o1#$!!!  Locals who try to intervene have even been shot and killed....  My disgust for Donald Trump and his followers has reached new heights.  The man is a demagogue, wanting to be a King who would win every prize, earned or not, even the Nobel Peace Prize, just to assuage his enormous ego..  He threatens countries around the world and is surprised when they don't bow to kiss his dirty feet.  And why the American public doesn't demand his ouster is a serious question in itself.....  Their politics is so polarized it is beyond comprehension, while this monster rules by decree, not the rule of law, because he is, of course, in his own mind, completely above mere mortals and any laws.

In all of this, I am thinking about an Ecuadorian friend with an American passport living in Minneapolis with his son, working hard to make a decent living.  I contacted him to see that he was OK and, American passport or not, the worry is in his voice.  Good luck Raoul.

Cristina has been out on 3 small shopping trips already.  She sure loves those electric mopeds!  No wonder cousin Roger says he sees her going by somewhere almost daily.

I have yet to get together with Roger because he has been fighting something like pneumonia for weeks and will get x-rays in the next couple of days.  Until they are certain it is not contagious he will keep his distance.

I made another short foray to the backyard with some of the dogs.  There was no Tom Thumb or anything skyward so I took shots of our pets outside.  Since I have been here over a month I have only seen 2 spiders in the backyard...  Odd... but maybe our battle with bugs is winning..??

I hope you enjoy the pictures.  That was the day’s excitement.
