Monday January 5, 2026

Last Friday, we went into Tulua for minor shopping for a couple of grocery items at Exito, then more junk from DollarCity (tied to Dollarama in Canada).

That evening, Cristina and I took 4 dogs out for a walk in slight drizzle, only to be driven home by a rainstorm.  Cristina hates getting her hair wet!

Saturday morning, I cut my hair to be comfortable in this climate, and it is almost maintenace-free when it is this short.  I am actually better acclimatised than usual even though the temps are almost always over 30C.

I connected the old LG sound bar to the new LG TV and it seems to work although I need batteries to work it with the remote instead of manually.

Cristina went on a mercy mission with our biggest female dog, Rio, to give a blood transfusion to a sick dog in Tulua.  Apparently it was successful, and she got word that she may be needed with a large male soon, so Grande may soon be a donor too...

I was watching an Oiler game when the Internet quit because Cristina forgot to pay the darn monthly instalment... and on another long weekend...  Just great!!!  No internet means no laptop use, no wi-fi, no IPTV, no cellular, etc, etc....   Talk about feeling cut off from the world!!

When Cristina returned, we paid for the Internet at an outside location because the Servinet office was closed.  It did not mean automatic reconnection unfortunately.

I took a short night ride on the older electric moped when the sprinkling threatened more and I got home in time before a steady rain.

There was a full "Wolf" moon, but it was invisible behind the rain clouds.  Drat!!

Sunday was almost unbearable without Internet again, so I took a few pictures to pass the time but Tom Thumb was again elusive so I changed the nectar again in the feeder.  Sooner or later, I hope to get some good shots of my little friend.

We made a trip to the cemetery to change out the decorations from Christmas to more generic stuff from DollarCity on Christian's little crypt.  Cristina is determined to keep his little spot looking the best.  I was really very touched when I saw that she had written on his photo "Christian mi angel... Te Amo, Mama y Papa Al".  I had not been able to see the bottom prior to this.  She also has a couple of photos in the house of just me and Christian.  ♥♥♥  I am so sad that the boy is gone..  Gee, he would be 30 now.....

Then we went on a jaunt with both electric mopeds through Campo Alegre to the West, but I did not stop for many pictures.  We stopped for a snack on the way back.  Empanadas are about 50c each.  A person should never go hungry here.

Earlier than usual, I took 3 dogs myself for a walk and got caught in a rainstorm 4 blocks from home.  We took refuge under a tree in front of a home, just as they were letting their dog out and a visitor was leaving.  Of course that was the cue for Turi to take a dump on their sidewalk in front of the crowd...  Thank the Lord I had a baggy left in my pocket...

Once the rain let up a bit, we made it home quickly.  I love the rain here because you dry off almost instantly after.

Today, our Internet people were back at work so Cristina called and we had technicians stop by within an hour to make sure we got re-connected properly...  What a RELIEF to be able to be in contact again..!!!!!!!!!!

Cristina sent me for 3 kg of birdseed, several cilantro and 1 kg of rice, and I actually got the right stuff, along with some pork tenderloin that looked too good on the butcher's counter...  Total about $17...

I hope you enjoy the pictures.  That was the day’s excitement.
