Tuesday July 8, 2025

For some reason, I was so bagged yesterday that I was in bed before 8pm (put a mark on the wall), my eyes would not stay open...  And then I slept for 13 hours....  I sure feel refreshed today..

That helps me enjoy the gorgeous summer day we are promised to make 32C.

I hopped on the Gio and made my way to the University of Alberta Hospital.   Saturday, when Russ and Angie were visiting, he mentioned that his Mom was in ICU there, so I made a mental note to be sure to visit.  Eleanore and I have know each other since 1968, when I worked with her ex-husband Ray at the Bank of  Nova Scotia.  I last saw her maybe 3 years ago when I visited at her home near Sangudo.

The hospital is huge, busy, and the signage leaves a lot to be desired, so I got lost.  I would have been better off entering the hospital at the southwest side...  But I finally made it to 3C4 with a pair of books I had grabbed from downstairs at the Manoir.  I knew Eleanore was an avid reader.

She was asleep and on dialysis to refresh her blood when I arrived.  But when a nurse scraped a chair out for me to sit, her eyes fluttered open, trying to figure out who I was.  We had a very nice visit but I could tell that talking through the noisy (sounded like farting) oxygen mask was tiring her out, so I did not overtax her.  Eleanore most likely will be there for a while, so we made sure that we had each others' phone numbers so she can call me anytime if she needs absolutely anything.

And the day was still much to nice to return quickly home so I made a detour above the river valley for pictures of downtown, and then surprisingly actually caught the Edmonton Queen turning on the river so I got a bad shot through the fencing on the High Level Bridge.  That pic is out of order for some reason...

I bypassed the Manoir and ended up at Vinnie's Treasure Shoppe where I love to poke around, even though I really don't need anything.  However I did find a toothpick holder that I could use...

I continued over by Bob's apartment just for the ride then cut down to meander along the north side of the river valley before returning home to enjoy the lovely flowers out front.

I hope you enjoy the pictures.  That was the day’s excitement.
