Saturday May 31, 2025

So, what to do after sleeping 10 hours straight again??  It is forecast to hit 30C again today, so staying inside seems ridiculous.  Showers are expected tonight (We pay for the heat always).

I decided to jump on the Gio and check out the tent city in front of Silly Hall.  It certainly was not what I expected, ... a fenced-off Gay Drag Festival that I got to slip in for a few minutes, grab a photo, and leave quickly....

From there, I headed northeast to Borden Park where the Ukrainian Festival was happening.  Again, it was a free event and I slipped in to grab a few photos.  For me, it was too hot to stay in one place for long so I did not linger even though the events would be interesting and I would have been certain to run into old friends, .. at least one of them in a dance group..

Other things were happening elsewhere in the Park for people with disabilities, spinal injuries (like me), Friends of Medicare, and more, and I got a free hamburger and a pop.

I meandered back and went by the Legislature which was flooded with wedding parties wanting special photographs.  I am sure that few of them got the photos they wanted with so very many people around...  The kids were enjoying the pools and the fountains in such a fun atmosphere.

Even though the Gio has only about 1/2 the full charge left, I am going to stretch it to another trip, maybe tomorrow.  Electric vehicles has a finite number of charges available and it is good to drain them down once in a while and then recharge fully.  Not too many people understand that concept (read Bob) and charge their unit every night and wonder why their batteries stop functioning after a year...

I double-checked the view outside Louise's place, and mine, of our AC installations and they are very discreet, as we wanted...

There is no hockey until Wednesday but there are sure to be other sports to watch while reading...

I hope you enjoy the pictures.  That was the day’s excitement.

Friday May 30, 2025

Thursday was a warm 32C with a late night rainstorm to pay for the heat..  We always pay for the heat!

Thursday also would have been my Mom's 109th Birthday..  Happy Birthday Mom!!!

I helped Louise early in the day to hook up her air-conditioner before her south-facing apartment got too warm.  I hooked hers up the same as mine after she had a look at my set-up and agreed that the permanent set-up made sense.

Bob repaid me 1/2 of the bill on his scooter and I took that to the bank for deposit.  While I was there I talked to my advisor and finally got him to straighten out (read delete) the messages and restrictions on my account.  Following that, I was finally able to do a Global Money Transfer to Cristina with ease...   Another load off my mind....

And our Oilers scored first in Dallas and despatched the Stars to the golf course 6-3.   Now onto the finals for the Stanley Cup for the second year against the same opponents, to whom we bowed out in a rousing Game 7 last year.

I just looked at the NHL schedule andI did not realize that we have home ice advantage because we had more points than the champion Florida Panthers in the regular schedule!  Good!!  Bring it on!!!!

Today, I wasted time until it was ready for me to wear my new green Elks golf shirt with gold pants and green sandals to cheer on the Elks against the BC Lions in their final pre-season game.  I went early to browse the tailgate party in the parking lot first and had little trouble getting in with the Gio.  The Elks made us stay until the final buzzer with 2 very late-game touchdowns to win 20-19.  I think that I bring them good luck....

As a season ticket holder, they provided us with a cloth badge to sew onto a garment or hat.  I imagine that it will go on the golf shirt...

I hope you enjoy the pictures.  That was the day’s excitement.
