Sunday Sept 30, 2018
Turi was giving me a guilt complex this morning with her sad looks.  When I called her in on her own, and grabbed the leash, she was a new, happy dog.  We only went around the block but she was just so very happy to be on a walk with Dad again.
The last few days I had heard noises over the north wall of the backyard sounding like construction so that mystery was solved this morning.  The huge lot is now filled with a carnival tent promising motorcycle inside a dome and what looks like clowns/comedians.  I mentioned to Cristina that the admission is a whole $1 so she wants to go tonight.
I then took 4 more dogs for the same walk, in twos.  Nina and Negrita are not good on the leash so they are not interested, however the others were also so thrilled to go out on a walk with Dad.
Then Cristina had the notion for us to go to Rio Frio so we tried, but we ended up at a closed road forcing us into Tulua so we turned around and went sightseeing instead.  There is a turnoff into Tulua near the new bus station that neither of us had ever been on so we explored this nice new road in an area obviously planned for a new subdivision, but it just led into a large barrio with lots of traffic lights so we beat a hasty retreat.
Then we both had the idea to go to BugaLaGrande, Cristina wanting a famous crushed ice and fruit cup called Cholado costing another whole $1.  However the "famous" kiosk was lined up around the block so we went to a different one with no lineup, and the helping was delicious, just not famous.
Then we did another trip to the cemetery in the hot sunshine.  The day had been cloudy and comfortable until then.  We saw that Carlos had completed his grandmother’s grave with the addition of a border frame and the white rock that we had provided.  There is just enough rock to cover,.. and I had bought twice as much as Cristina was going to get.  I told you guys that I am a good estimator…
Unfortunately I hurt my back carrying a huge pail of water and the TENS machine and Tylenol are allowing me to function, .. slowly
So we went to the big tent around 6:07 for the early 6:15 show.  Nothing much was happening but lots of people were pulling up behind us.  We ask when they start taking admissions and the guy says there is no 6:15 show, that is only in the cities,.. there is only an 8pm show in small towns, and he gives me a look like "you should no this..".  I look back and point to their huge banners at the front where it clearly says there are 2 shows, with no provisos for city or country.  And I'm the crazy one...  Colombians just accept this Latin American BS as logical...  Lord give me strength....  We decided not to go back...
I hope you enjoy the pictures.  Most are untouched, right from the Lumix.  That was the day’s excitement.

Saturday Sept 29, 2018 - Update

Whenever I do an early-day Blog, as I did yesterday, something  inevitably happens in the evening worthy of a few pictures, and comment, etc.  That definitely happened Saturday evening.
After eating some creature-comfort food of peanut butter and grape jelly, then
Corn on the cob, it got noisy in the street.  There was a siren going on in the street, and it was not going away.  I looked out and saw police motorcycles leading a firetruck (and we say that recently) so we figured we were going to have another short parade.  We were only partly right...
After the cops and the firetruck can a car jammed with speakers and blaring music so loud that my doors and windows were rattling and I was not happy at the unnecessary loudness, especially the bass.
But then began a horse parade, with easily 100 riders and horses, all using this distinctive high-stepping gait, and on the concrete this sounded just like castanets.  The horses looked Arabian and all were in beautiful shape.  Last week we had seen one such horse being trained in our neighbourhood, but to see about 100 of them was just incredible.
After watching a bit and realizing that there were a lot more coming I went and grabbed the Lumix and first put it on Movie-mode because it does 4G video, whatever that is.  It ran for 6:05 then it quit, saying my memory card couldn't handle something or other, even though it is a 32Gb card, so I wasn't sure if I would get anything out of my efforts...  So I took a few snaps as well.
I put the card in the computer and it showed that I had an MP4 of 3.76Gb, and it did play so I decided to put it up on YouTube.  Little did I know the fun I would have doing that... NOT!  It took me 14 hours, overnight to get the darn thing uploaded, some of that time was my fault, but the slowness was all YouTube.  Even Sunday morning, when I finally got it uploaded it said there were errors and it didn't want to "publish" despite clicking the button many, many times.  After trying many different things, and walking the dogs to kill some of the wait, I finally found one edition that actually did publish, even though I had to go back in and edit all the details.  All's well that ends well and I am so happy to present to you this amazing footage.  Some of it is whited out a bit by the reflected sunlight but most of the video is pretty good for a spur-of-he-moment effort.
I hope you enjoy the video and the pictures.  That was the day’s excitement.
