Saturday April 16, 2016
We had a lovely sunrise this morning at 6am, only to have it get covered in cloud and fog by 7am, followed by a small shower.  This rainy season seems to be especially rainy, at any time of the day.  I notice it more because I am trying to walk the dogs every 4 hours or so.
Oswaldo was supposed to come by today but I never heard from him.  I imagine that he has a lot of errands to run as a result of his losses in the home invasion.
I was hoping to take Toxic to Joe's Secret Garden tonight.  We had nice skies here in Monay around 4:40, but one look to the west scotched that idea.  It was completely socked in to the west and it started to sprinkle as I got on the bus.  We went through two major squalls on the way to Las Americas, so I had made the right decision.
There was a small crowd of approximately 60 people for the Chicken Piri Piri and they were mostly happy to be in the garden under that huge palm tree.  The Piri Piri is not really one of my favourite dishes, mostly because of the horrendous smoke involved in the cooking process.  Because we did not have the normal east wind tonight the smoke was not a factor.
I caught a cab home and was again surprised at the meter reading.  These cabbies have found ways to jimmy the meter so they can tally a better bill for every ride.   I would much rather be riding Toxic than getting ripped off by these dishonest characters.
Oh, some people said that they had felt an earthquake while we were there.  Apparently there was a huge 7.8 quake on the coast near Muisne and Esmeraldas (where I was just 8 days ago) along with 6 other nearby quakes.   These had been predicted since the big recent quakes in Japan.  They say that these could be the precursors to "The Big One" that everyone has been waiting for...   I am sure glad that I am not living on any coastlines right now.......
I hope you enjoy the photos.  That was the day's excitement,   Cheers, Al
