Sunday August 24, 2025

Saturday, I got busy making new business cards with my new Fongo phone number and made sure they were attached to my pieces of luggage....  Already getting ready to head South.

Since my neighbour to the West, John, is vacating his apartment to move to a place with the extra care he needs, his sister, Collette, let me know that they had a few things to try to get rid of.  I had mentioned this to Bob so he found one of his neighbors that needs stuff, so now I am holding a desk for someone named Sharon in my suite until Monday.

At 3 PM they had a corn roast outside in the sunshine for the residents, for which we had paid $2 each..  A nice cob of Taber Corn, a small hotdog, a bag of Hickory Sticks, a Pepsi and a Twinkie made a nice quick meal.

I plugged in my Gio and spoke to another friend, Ross, who was using the computer downstairs while watching football and baseball.  I invited him up to watch at my place and we yacked until past midnight.

Today around noon, I went down to retrieve my Gio and Ross was again at the computer.  Sitting on my Gio was another Chicago Black Hawks cap in black,.. a nice gift from Ross.  He likes a lot of the same things I do.

The weather is turning nice and hot for a week, today hitting 29C, so I was determined to get out.  Later we have a heat warning in effect as temps will rise into the 30's...  Finally we may get to use the air-conditioner..

I met Bob and we headed to the Queen Mary Flea Market for something to do.  I wanted a blue ball cap because I have a lot of blue clothes and jackets.  I could only find Blue Jays caps they wanted $30 for...  Bob wanted a night light.

I also needed to confirm a few things with my IPTV provider who has a booth there.  I can buy a simpler IPTV box, a Z11 model, for $210, and get it all set up to use in Colombia when I go in December and prepay a year at $15 monthly.  That will give me something to pass some of the time down there.

Then the lights went out and they shooed everybody out of the building, including the vendors...  So we went to a different Dollarama store to get the nightlight for Bob.  I am still looking for a cheap blue cap.

I left Bob and went down along the North Saskatchewan to Ezio Faraone Park, then the Legislature.   I honestly expected both places to be much busier, but the kids were having a ball in the fountains in the heat.

I hope you enjoy the pictures (out of order again).

That was the day’s excitement.
