Wednesday July 30, 2025

It has been a tough week, but we motor on.

Monday, I spent ALL day processing about 45 pictures in combinations of Topaz AI and Photoshop or Smart Photo Editor.  I am very pleased with the results although I need the patience of Job.

Tuesday, Bob paid off his new scooter so that is a big load off of his mind, and mine.  And Bob and Don swapped some insulin supplies which are all greek to me.

I had our local computer guru, David, stop by and discuss the pros and cons of upgrading or replacing my desktop computer...  There is so much to consider and most of that is greek to me as well.  My Topaz AI is a basic program because my present old computer does not have the ooomphhh to run the newer version.  So if I get a faster computer with a minimum 16gb graphics card, I can use the latest program faster, and with better results....

And I was in touch with Igor the traveler and he had landed in Los Angeles already so we began discussing the Salt Lake trip.

This morning I was awoken early by something and decided to be proactive and take my Regal to the mechanic for an oil change, etc, bulbs, and a new battery again for the fob at 7:30am.  Everything works except the air-conditioning and the odometer, but I can live without both.

Walking back from the mechanic, my legs felt awful wonky because I had not yet performed my morning exercises, which I did later and all is fine, thank the Lord.

So I discussed replacing the computer again with David and he assures me that we can save all my programs, and hopefully my Windows 10 (we both absolutely hate Windows 11) as well.  We may go out tomorrow for this purpose,.. I am awaiting his confirmation....

I picked up the car early afternoon and decided to unclog air entry area by the driver's side windshield wiper...  because the fan blower is weak, even though they also replaced the inner filter again.  I took the Regal to a Hughes Car Wash location, vacuumed it aggressively, surprised at the poor suction there.  Then I spent another $2 for a quick wash and wax...

Bob met me at 5pm at On The Rocks for our Wednesday Wing Night and he managed to pick up the tab.  I had always refused to let him pay tabs with me until he had paid off his scooter, which he has happily accomplished.

I spoke more to Igor, who is now in Denver, and we are shooting to meet in Salt Lake City around August 24th with about a week's advance notice.  I will do some visiting and sightseeing on my 1675 km journey there.  Igor watches for upcoming storms because he hates being cold or wet...  So I hope this will work out so I can be back in time for Uncle Maynard's Celebration Of Life Sept 13...

I have only a week left to upgrade my Topaz AI free to the latest version so I intend to try this next (wish me luck) and hopefully seamlessly transfer all this to the new computer later, because it may be over a week before I get the new one made up properly...

I hope you enjoy the pictures.  That was the day’s excitement.

Sunday July 27, 2025

Friday, I got my LeFant Roomba going and that prompted me to do a little housecleaning....  One of these days I will get around to the dusting....

Saturday, I ate unusually early and Bob shows up with frozen chicken breasts and other microwave meals to give me.  Jeepers, I have loads of food in my place to eat....

Then Don shows up with a cartful of food, drops off potato salad, plus Romaine lettuce and tomatoes for me to make Caesar salad while he goes home to heat up spicy chicken nuggets, and then returns to bring the supper here (he has no room for a kitchen table at his place), ....so we eat more and watch the Blue Jays.

Today, we had an early afternoon rain and I got stir crazy cleaning my windows.  So I called Bob, picked him up in the Regal to go to the big Flea Market to poke around a little.  I had hoped to discuss with my IPTV people about buying a set to take to Colombia, but that can wait until I know the timing.

I bought myself a really nice Chicago Black Hawks ball cap for $10.

Bob's son Connor was in from BC yesterday and had mentioned to Bob that he was hoping to arrange a family reunion today, possibly at his brother Dylan's nearby restaurant.  But Connor is unreliable and nothing came of it.

As we were leaving the Flea Market, Bob mentioned going to see the new Italian restaurant named Nero nearby where his son Dylan is Manager, so we went.  They were close to opening time, so Dylan invited us in for a meal, his treat, and Bob's buttons were bursting with pride.

The food was great, considering I usually am disappointed with Italian food, and we tried an Italian beer as well.  Our waitress, Raquel's mother was from Bogota and her father was Lebanese.

The restaurant was very opulent, with Dylan having control over 30 staff, and expecting over 300 patrons for an evening.   We were very impressed, and thankful to Dylan for a wonderful afternoon for his father.

I hope you enjoy the pictures.  That was the day’s excitement.
