I went for physio today only to find the hospital closed but I walked around the back anyway, just to be sure.  Boy, it gets me riled up when these people don't tell you these simple things like "we are closed for the May 24 holiday on May 26th"...  I wouldn't have wasted 1/2 a day over it.
We had made arrangements to go with our buddy Gustavo for a little jaunt out of town so we started off a little earlier but had to detour by his house to pay the maid.  Since we had never seen his house in El Centro, he invited us in.  Wow!  He has this huge house plus a second lot, in El Centro, all to himself...  Are we ever envious...
We were hungry so we went kitty-corner to the Capitan Resturant which won the Best Seafood award in the GringoTree poll.   It is a couple of doors south of Presidente Cordova, on Tomas Ordonez.  The chef showed us the huge fresh sea bass (corvina) filets, so we had to try them and we were not disappointed.  They were well deserving of that award, the meal was deeeelicious!!
Because of the latest landslide at Josefina, we had to detour our route to Gualaceo over some really crappy road via Jadan, dodging buses all the way.  A friend had actually posted a photo on FaceBook this morning showing the damage from a bus on bus accident on this narrow road.  It took us a long time to get there but not before I got 2 gorgeous panorama shots along the way.  That is where the new Lumix really shines apparently, using the 4G function to take the pano shots.
The main market square in Gualaceo is all torn up and there wasn't much exciting in the shops so we just continued on to Chordeleg.
Our niece Dawn had been looking for gifts to take back to friends and family and was able to find everything she needed in about 1/2 hour.  Then we just roamed for a while, stopped for a drink, and continued back.
I suggested an alternate route for the return trip and Gustavo was pleased to see that the road via San Bartolome, La Libertad, Santa Ana and El Valle was freshly paved, virtually all the way, so it was more enjoyable for the vehicle and driver and passengers.
We decided to go to El Patio near Tres Puentes for supper so everyone could have a choice of meals and spent more quality time together.  As we were leaving the parking lot our way was blocked by a crowd being held in by police.  They said we might get out in 10 minutes but it was closer to 45 minutes.  The first story was that the merchants were serving liquor and cigarettes to minors so they were not letting any minors leave.  There were only 2 police at this big gate so they didn't dare open it for vehicles yet because the kids would have bolted.  As it was, the kids went to the far end of the wall and climbed out anyway.   The parking lot security guard was just chuckling away at the kids evading capture....  Then the second story was that a drunk young girl had been molested by a boy and that they now had them both in custody.  We didn't know what to believe and didn't really care, we just wanted to get home for potty breaks and to walk the dogs.
I hope you enjoy the photos. That was the day’s excitement.
Cheers, Al
