Saturday, at Joe's Secret Garden, while discussing the little time left in Cuenca for Richard and Maredeys, we decided that we would take them to Giron to see the sights in that area. I hastily contracted with one of our reliable taxi drivers, German, and he was right on time the next morning to take the 5 of us.
As usual we stopped at the war memorial near Portete to enjoy the spectacular vista of the Giron valley. For once, it was not really cold and windy on the mountaintop.
It was a tad blustery when we got to the Chorros (waterfalls) De Giron, and the spray from the falls definitely caused goosebumps, but we managed to get more good shots of the people and the scenery.
We tried to return to Cuenca for a late almuerzo lunch and the girls had their heart set on typical Colombian food but, alas, those restaurants were closed. Richard checked the reviews of the restaurants in the area and saw that La Esquina had the best reviews in the city. It certainly was a good choice because both the beef and pork tenderloin dishes were magnificent.
After that great feed, Richard wanted to get his bottle of 30-year-old rum so a little side trip accomplished that, followed by a stop for Coke and ice.
We returned to our place and had a few rum cocktails from 3 bottles and enjoyed a lot of good music and lively conversation.
We will be sorry to see Richard and Maredeys leave for Medellin, but we now have an invitation to visit them there, so we will have to save our pennies to make that happen.
I hope you enjoy the photos. That was the day's
excitement, Cheers,
Al
