HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
We wish everyone continued good health, happiness and prosperity.
Happy Birthday to me. THANK YOU to all the folks that have sent me emails and messages of condolences on FaceBook. They are greatly appreciated.
We were wanting to take Christian to the Giron area and were not expecting to do this until sometime next week, but our buddy Oswaldo, along with his girlfriend Nancy, decided to take us today. This was a very nice Birthday present.
We made the usual stop at the war memorial near Portete. It is always windy up there, but usually sunny earlier in the day with that magnificent vista of the glorious Giron valley.
Then we actually just skirted the town of Giron and went to the gorgeous Chorros (waterfalls) of Giron before continuing on to the Laguna De Busa past San Fernando.
It was incredible to see the amount of Ecuadorians at both places, and no Gringos except me... Strangely nobody was in the mood to walk around the whole lake. The place has become very commercialized since I was there last, complete wit a toll booth to enter.
Then we came back for supper to our place where Cristina had fashioned a lovely meal in the early morning, topped with a colourful Jello dessert that I enjoy tremendously.
Another year in the annals and we continue to enjoy good health. The best news I had on the day was that my 99-year-old mother is rebounding somewhat and becoming more chipper again. It was great to be able to have a reasonable conversation with her today.
