The campaign posters are certainly in evidence all over town for the upcoming Assembly elections in February. The poster I captured today on my block shows a reigning party candidate with President Correa.

I slipped out in the morning sunshine to retrieve my fanny pack at the shoemakers where they were installing a new main zipper for $1.50. While there, I also had a tear in my runner sewn up for $1.

The rivers were quickly back to normal after a lot of rain yesterday. It is the beginning of the rainy season.

My intention was to go to a meeting at Otorongo Park by 6pm to supposedly hear President Correa give a speech near the mock-up of the new rapid-transit train. I was raining pretty steadily, and my ride was late so we decided to skip that and just find a good place to eat, with parking close by. Driving up Simon Bolivar told us that the President’s plans had been changed, with protestors lining the streets. We had supper near San Blas Park at Mangiare and the food was tremendous. There was a huge roar and lots of protest noises as the President’s motorcade went by around 7:30, obviously running on Ecuador time.

I didn't get out much today but did go for a little walk to the west. Sunday is such a family day in Cuenca and every sports field is busy with sports.

I almost never took a photo of the flower but then figured it won't even look the same tomorrow...

This was my last visit to Joe's Secret Garden for a while since I leave for Canada next Thursday. Tonight was their signature Southern Fried Chicken dinner and it was wonderfully delicious as usual.

Last night I was down at San Blas Park waiting for the church to be lit up behind the fountain, but that didn't happen.

This morning I went early to the Etapa office to pay my property taxes on the house. Our taxes in Canada er over $3,000 per year. Here in Cuenca they were $19.46!!!!!

Then I decided to investigate how to make some small shelves inside my shelf unit so I can have a second row of DVD's on each shelf. I checked with the woodworkers, then the metalworkers and was quoted from $100 to $300, so I gave up on that idea. However I did come up with a brainstorm for $12 that might work... I'll let you know later.

Tonight, while wandering up Calle Larga we came across this great wall mural of boy with a guitar. I modified it somewhat to eliminate some graffiti but I am always impressed with the talent of such artists.

Then the lights on Todos Santos church beckoned yet again...
