We had to rush again today because we were invited out to Alex & Cecilia's place in the country and we had only rudimentary route notes. Cristina actually agreed to go out there on Buzzer no doubt because a bus would have been even more complicated. We were almost there when we hit the requisite gravel slope and knew there was no way we both could ride up. Then 2 trucks came up who were going to the same place so Cristina got a ride.
We had just a great day in this rustic setting on a mountainside at San Cristobal which is just above Azogues. The views extend from Pachamama (Table Mountain) and Cuenca to Cojitambo which overlooks Azogues.
I have no idea of the connection of all the people there but there were other Colombians so we had great food and then we went down to the play area.
First there was volleyball and they thankfully had enough players o I didn't have to test my wonky ankle.
The most fun was provided by the black Lab cross named Gracie who would charge into the game and try to get the ball... Hilarious! It is a good thing that the ball is just too big for her to actually get a bite on it, but she sure would disrupt the game.
We came back up for another bite of food and then more of us went back down for futbol. I took a chance and played goalie. They scored some pretty easy goals on me until I got comfortable with the terrain and more confident with my ankle, then I slammed the door, lol. Little Elisa at the other end was the real star, making some phenomenal point-blank saves that had the hotshots scratching their heads. Alex is a pretty good player in his own right and wife Cecilia doesn't give anyone any quarter.... Anyway it was a lot of fun until the afternoon was waning and I needed to get off that mountaintop in daylight.
I went at a snail's pace through the bad gravel section and Cristina caught a ride down with the same nice people. It turns out that they live just south of us on the way to Baguanchi.
I hope you enjoy the photos taken with the Lumix. That was the day’s excitement.
Cheers, Al
