Well, very late last night, Orlando and I drove to Guayaquil to pick up my cousin Maurice at 1am. On the way I took some 25 second time shots through the windshield and was rewarded with some incredibly colourful results.
This morning I let Maurice hold the nectar as I opened the window and Tom Thumb was right there to eat right from his hand. The feeding was interrupted by one of the interlopers as Tom had to fight to protect his territory
We then went around El Centro, staying close to Parque Calderon and both cathedrals before catching one of the double-decker buses to Turi and back. Our intention was to stay for sunset but it was cooling off so we headed into Ristorante La Vina for pizza.
It was one of the Jazz Cafe nights so we headed upstairs to listen, and met and joined 3 other Canadians for a very enjoyable evening. We had another very pleasant surprise when Jim Gala introduced a guest artist named Renato Albornoz. He said that Renato is a favourite of Presidente Rafael Correa and it was easy to see why! Boy! Can this fellow ever handle an acoustic guitar with ease!!
Hope you enjoy the photos and videos. That was the day's excitement, Cheers, Al The road to Guayaquil # 1 |
