Today we went from Quito to the Center Of The World, the Equator and stood in both hemispheres at once.
Then we traveled to Mindo and stopped at the Sachatamia Lodge to wander their gardens and watch their 35 varieties of hummingbirds zip around our ears and gorge themselves at the many feeders on the grounds. These are only 1/2 of the hummer photos taken there that I have processed, culled from 300 shots. This place is a smorgasbord for a nature photographer!
My favourite is the Booted RacketTail Hummingbird, which is very small, green body, with fur boots like Santa Claus, and long swallowtails ending in 2 blue hearts. We affectionately call him Mr Santa Pants.
