Friday November 8, 2013
Silly me!  I read the events calendar wrong and we went one day early to the Civic Plaza for a Festival that wasn't happening today...  However we lucked out and happened to be right there for the arrival of Presidente Rafael Correa's probable successor, the Head of the National Assembly, Gabriela Rivadeneira.  She is only about 30years old.
I managed to show Maurice through the big enclosed Mercado, with all the fresh meat, vegetables, and fruit.  The best pan flute players were also outside, so that was a treat.  We wandered through the Rotary Market and watched the indigenous cleansing ritual where they batter you with weeds, lol.
Then I took Maurice up to El Valle to enjoy the quiet and peace of the country life.  It must be plating season because we saw at least 3 sets of oxen at work.
I had a good cry when I saw that someone was already preparing to build on the mountaintop lot that I desperately wanted.
We also saw another new variety of hummer today, a super tiny all-green one with a very long black tail.
Then we came home and crashed from exhaustion.
Hope you enjoy the photos.  That was the day's excitement,   Cheers, Al
