Happy Valentine's Day from Colombia where they celebrate it on the third weekend of September...
We had a good sleep and I watched the men's and women's Canadian Curling teams both lose to the Swiss. I am only an armchair quarterback, having only fired rocks once in high school, but I have watched enough curling to know bad strategies when I see them. The Canadian women got lucky and had a 4-0 lead only to blow it all back to the Swiss in the 7th and never recovered. Every member of Team Homan blew shots that they haven't missed in years. They are now 1-3 and unless they have a resurgence of skill, they are toast... Team Jacobs on the men's side sometimes plays things too safe. But they are 3-1 so there is hope yet.
The Canadian women's hockey team is still struggling in my opinion. Sure, they beat Germany 5-1 but their supposed snipers Nurse and Spooner are playing horribly, making bad decisions and poor shot-making time and again. The whole team can't pass to a teammate properly. Our captain, Poulin, played magnificently while still injured, trying to lead the way, and tied the record for Olympic hockey goals! They are good, but they can do so much better, and will have to, if they expect to beat the powerful, well-coached American team...
I installed the two new catbird seats in the front windows and re-installed one of the old ones at Cristina's request. Suction cups can fail, so Cristina will work her rope and ribbon magic so they will stay in place.
Carlos came earlier than expected this afternoon and tackled finishing the concrete ramp to the patio. I stayed out of his way and he did a superlative job!! Now we have to let it cure for a few hours before allowing the dogs out.
There is talk of renting a car next weekend and going to a coffee ecological preserve, petting zoo, dude ranch, etc.... not too far north. I have agreed to drive for that trip.
I am still watchong obscure old movies on Video-on-demand to make the evenings pass by before I walk the dogs....
