Overall, the exit from Ontario went smoothly Wednesday evening, WestJet actually left on time and arrived in Calgary as scheduled, and the bags arrived quickly. My friend Betty was waiting for me and we got back to her lovely place in Diamond Valley in good time to have a nice glass of wine before retiring.
I retrieved all my gear and we headed to rescue my Regal from my sister's yard near Longview. The trip along there is so breathtaking that I could not resist the few shots below.
The Regal was frost covered and a little scraping was required, but the old girl fired up easily and the heater struggled to warm the interior. But once I got underway, she performed beautifully. My lovely sister had packed me a bag of goodies and ginger ale for the 4-hour trip and I was ever so thankful as I dug into the delicious snacks and Mandarins.
I topped up the gas tank at Airdrie, picked up some milk and lasagna upon arrival in Edmonton and had enough energy to unpack. Most of the detailed stuff could wait until tomorrow.
I got tagged immediately upon arrival to help another resident set up his new TV.... I did what I could but ultimately had to allow the building manager to finish since they had changed things while I was away.
My own IPTV system was due in September and has been shut off. My intention is to purchase it locally now anyway so it will have to wait. I still have the building's Telus feed.
I had been in contact with my buddy Bob, whose birthday was yesterday, and he had kindly invited me over for supper. He craves company in his new apartment not far away and he loves to cook.
I made a quick stop at Dollarama to pick up a 2025 Agenda, then I joined Bob for supper, and to watch our Oilers lose to Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins.....
When I returned home, the bedroom was the only place I wanted to be...
I hope you enjoy the pictures. That was the day’s excitement.
