Last Sunday I cooked my famous macaroni stew to have something to eat that helps me lose weight, and I shared it with Don from upstairs.
Because we are having spells of snow, cold wind and winter conditions this week, I am hibernating and working more on my Pase Del Nino pictures, getting them ready for uploading for sale.
And, as of Monday, I am back reading my spy novels while watching sports, hockey, tennis and curling.
Tuesday, I took a short drive to Shoppers Drug Mart/Canada Post to mail my sister near Longview some items I had forgotten to leave in my brief stop a week ago Thursday. That is one less thing to worry about.
Wednesday, and the rest of the week I have been maintaining 190 lbs, hoping to see a smidge less sometime soon.
Most of the week we have seen temperatures in the 0C range in the daytime but an unrelenting wind makes it feel much colder.
Thursday I had a luncheon appointment that the other party forgot and then got tied up.... Oh well.....
That afternoon I went to my CIBC advisor and faced the unpleasant music. Because I had thought I was scammed (more on this later) and my bank account possibly compromised on Jan 6, they locked my account and killed my debit and credit cards, mailing me new credit cards. The bad news was that I was unable to make them reverse anything and had to change bank accounts again...... What a royal pain in the pitoot as I envisioned all the automatic deposits of pensions, income tax, etc, etc, and the automatic withdrawal for rent and insurance..... I got a new debit card, moved most of my money from the old account to the new one, but retained the old account open for special reasons, and late transactions...
When I returned home, the 2 new credit cards were in my mailbox, so I got to work, activated them and then changed the details everywhere I normally used the cards. I started to relax again as things fell into place again....
When in Colombia, I had to purchase back the $100 Amazon Gift Card I had given my vet John as a gift, because Amazon would not let him use it in Colombia..... Thankfully, I had only minor problems using it to buy some things my buddy Bob wants...
Today, -9C, and no parking downtown so I took the LRT train to Canada Place and waited an hour to give my new bank account info to be applied to the direct deposit of my CPP and Canada Pensions.
Then I went to the Library to get the last Vince Flynn book in the Mitch Rapp series that came in brand new in September and had 32 people waiting for it.... 2 months ago it was available to me and I had to remove my hold on the book because I was still in South America. So I was pretty shocked to find it completely available when I checked. And I picked up another Ken Follett book for good measure.
I still have not gone for groceries because of the banking fiasco and the cold wind. My football fanatic friends were running their monthly food specials downstairs so I grabbed a few cans of beans, etc.....
So, things are almost back to normal, and next week I will get groceries when it warms up again.
The scam situation is still unresolved and the guy phones me every day but we have had to wait until I sorted out the banking issue. He keeps showing me that my money invested with them appreciated by 50% in only 2 weeks, so... now the issue to carefully get them to return my initial investment without giving them any further banking information. Easier said than done, as we continue this dance...
Hugs from Edmonton.
I hope you enjoy the pictures. That was the day’s excitement.
