Still busy slowly emptying the house of junk.  One of my nieces was kind enough to come and take many family heirlooms and photographs for safekeeping.   She even took my old Raleigh bike and my elliptical trainer.
Today I spent most of my time organizing the DVD's I will bring back to Ecuador.  I think I have a total of 176 that I will be bringing.
Last night there was a pretty chinook sunset with the Rockies beautifully outlined on the horizon.  I am certainly going to miss this view.
Today we had 5 deer that seemed to stay in the neighbourhood finding things to feed on in the yards.  That is another thing I am dearly going to miss here.
Another showing tomorrow.   Cross your fingers....
Hope you enjoy the photos.  That was the day's excitement,   Cheers, Al

This is last night's chinook arch over the Rockies, wide angle

This is pretty much our view with the naked eye

The deer hung around all day, munching everything

Resting to chew...

The neighbours get the brunt of it

Their trees must taste better than ours

I had a personal house showing today so we have our fingers crossed that we were successful.  Our house is in an exclusive area full of retirees, so homes do not come up for sale here very often.
I then decided that I would meet my sister Leonie at Mom's place in Calgary.  Mom keeps grousing that she never gets out, so I talked her into going for a ride.  It really isn't that difficult to convince her because she really loves my Park Avenue.  When we asked her where she wanted to go, she said she would like to see my home again before it got sold, so we did a trip back to Okotoks.
The day was mostly blustery but only just below 0-C so the weather is easily tolerable.  I remember when I was here last January that I felt cold all the time, but not this time, I am quite comfortable with it.
Part of the wonder of being back here is the natural beauty of the Rockies, horses in the nearby paddocks and the deer that are constantly visiting our backyard.
I found the 2.2X converter zoom that I had purchased online, and it really seems to work well with my lens.
Hope you enjoy the photos.  That was the day's excitement,   Cheers, Al

There is nothing more peaceful to me than hoses grazing

This fellow is in a good area and has a good owner

This is one of 2 deer bedded down beneath our dining room window

It is always nice when the Rockies make an appearance on the horizon

I had to take a few shots of the Rockies on the horizon because they are just so magnificent with a coat of snow.
Mom then asked me to take her photo because she had gotten all dressed up.
The deer continue to frequent our back yard and give me some photo opportunities, which I carefully take advantage of without disturbing their activities.    I also did some work on that photo of the deer with the rabbit 2 days ago and I hope you like the result.

That was today's excitement,   Cheers, Al

I re-did this photo of the 3 deer checking out the rabbit

The deer feel safe in our back yard

I really enjoy their visits

Mom looks good for age 96

We do our best not to disturb them

Some of our view of the Rockies

The Rockies look good with a coat of snow

This view is from just north of town

They look good in BW too

What beautiful country

Tuesday January 22/13
We had deer in the backyard twice today.  Then they gave me a bonus when they flushed out a white snowshoe rabbit from near the neighbor’s gate.  I have really missed seeing my deer friends so this was a very special treat.
I also had meetings with Mom, and then Leonie, Brian, Jeff, Nicole, Erin, Emma, and Amy for an enjoyable supper at Ricky’s.
This evening I met up with Em and Gord, who had invited me over to see their pride in the achievements of their fabulous Golden Retriever named Cheemo, and their cats, Pepsi and Orange.
Google has fouled up the order of the photos again.  Sorry.
That was today's excitement,   Cheers, Al

I am pretty sure these are mule deer

Can you spot the hidden rabbit?

These deer are not very afraid of humans

This gal had an itchy ear

Parked for a while in the neighbour's yard

Look what these 3 have cornered!
