Last Saturday, I helped get the armrest ordered from Gateway for Tracey's Gio. I hope it gets here before I leave so that I can install it for her.
Bob invited me over for his homemade beef stew and to watch the Oilers game. I broke down and ordered more Oiler 50-50 tickets because it was for a good cause. Then I picked up a few groceries and hunted Dollarama for some Canada socks that Cristina wants,.. unsuccessfully.
Monday I made spicy spaghetti and meatballs, enough for 4 meals.
Tuesday I butchered an old large Brita insert that was always giving me trouble, so I could just have the large pitcher for my juice. My little Dremel did the trick well enough.
And, we got the very sad news that our friend Louise from one floor up finally succumbed to her cancer, smoking right to the end. I will miss ordering t-shirts and books for her, she was such a gentle soul.
Wednesday, another resident, Theresa, was convinced that people enter her suite and steal food, and sometimes leave a mess on her mirrors... I went home and ordered her a door alarm and I will test my car cam in her suite with an AC adapter I also ordered. I also broke down and ordered a "snoop detector" for hidden cameras and sound bugs. Later, we will put her fears to rest.
I called Don to come for a large salad supper and he countered that he was bringing a large chicken lasagna with too much salt content for him to try and eat it all. I still have some left over in my freezer now.
Thursday, I worked on more photos, all from when I was in Ecuador last December. They don't show up for sale for about 18 months or so.
Today, we had a crummy winter day with freezing rain, followed by snow and -11C temperatures with a brisk wind. I had to concoct a home de-cer (alcohol, water and detergent) because I was certain that my car doors would be frozen shut. I went down around 3pm and, sure enough, the doors were frozen, but the de-icer worked and I let the car warm up for a bit.
My Amazon delivery with the alarm etc. showed up early...
I got cleaned up, then went down again to the car and thankfully the door opened OK, but I had to hammer at my extension cord to separate it from my block heater cord.... sheesh!
I made my way over to meet my cousin Jeanne at the Cite Francophone for the annual Club 50+ Christmas Party. The turkey dinner with a little tourtierre was excellent! The music DJ was only so-so but Jeanne and I cut up the dance floor regardless and had a very good time with our seatmates. It was a fun night! Oh, I got asked by one of the organizers to take a few photos....
I hope you enjoy the pictures. That was the day’s excitement.
