I had received a gift of "Storyworth" from my daughter and her kids for Christmas 2023. The premise is that they will send you one question weekly for a year and, at the end, you can pay for more questions or decide to publish the book.. So my 53 questions were over and they were pressuring me via email to order my book, with a color cover and black'n'white inside included in the gift, but required to pay for shipping to Canada.
So, I got busy doing the proofreading Tuesday, changing a couple of the repetitive questions (supplied by them, or my daughter??) and adding some pertinent photos to each story. It was much harder than it sounds.. The 6" x 9" book is 253 pages long!
Finally, Wednesday I finished that chore and decided to order 5 colour books, inside and out,... not realizing I was paying in USD and ended up paying almost 5 times what the gift was worth... But, hopefully the resulting book will be a NY Times bestseller, lol.... I was surprised that the shipping was under $23.
Also Wednesday, I got a call from Don for help to go pick up a used Nikon D5600 camera (the same as mine, for his daughter) with 4 manual lenses that had him all excited. His daughter had dropped and ruined her D5600. The wind was very cold from the north and a few snowflakes were blowing around. Don haggled a little and got his package for a nice price. I told him that I would buy the camera and 50mm lens if she changed her mind. Don has a multitude of Nikon cameras and especially one that will accept any Nikon lens.
We stopped at the 50-year-old restaurant Barb and Ernie's for a late breakfast. Neither of us had been there almost those 50 years! The food was good but pricey!
We checked the 4 lenses Wednesday and today and, other than the tiny 50mm lens, I was decidedly not impressed with the 135mm, 85mm, or the 14mm. They are all manual focus and I had no luck with the last 3 as you will see in the attached photos. My camera and lens is far superior, being able to AutoFocus...
Last night I watched part of the Election debates in French and read the reviews this morning... Not one of the 4 party leaders was impressive, so we will watch the English debate tonight with definite interest.
One of the Jacqueline Susann books that I had ordered for Louise from upstairs arrived today. 3 more are on their way.
I hope you enjoy the pictures. That was the day’s excitement.
