Saturday evening I got to work and set up my AC. I don't honestly know where I am finding the energy to do things, but I guess the spring air and extra humidity sure helps.
That evening began some IPTV connection reception problems which they claim is solely my problem or internet signal, because nobody else is complaining.... NOT!
I had made a courtesy call to Ghyslaine while cleaning my contacts in my phone. That got me roped into helping her move stuff from a storage locker, easily 8' x 10', jammed of her stuff. She is a packrat and can't resist a bargain. Now she is moving into a subsidized place near Southgate through the same folks as Bob, which is just as small, or smaller, than the apartments they both had here...
We loaded her truck and my car and cleared 1/2 of the storage locker. I did the packing, because she hasn't got a clue and she never stops talking. I was sure to have my back brace on and again took pain pills when I got home and survived to live another day.
The IPTV problems continued Sunday but seem to have cleared up mysteriously today... I hope that stays that way.
Today was busy and I was up early. Bob's scooter was to be delivered before 1pm, so I took a chance and ran the Gio to Canada Place to drop off my CPP/OAS/GIS renewal papers. I was astounded that there were zero lineups and the place was empty of customers! That was a first!
While I was there I grabbed 6 beef donairs from Mr. Donair in the basment. Always good to have a ready meal in the freezer....
Then the Library was next, 2 blocks away, to swap the 2 Ken Follett books for the 2nd last Lee Child Jack Reacher novel I will get from them.
Next, I scootered over to my CIBC, unable to make an appointment beforehand because the clods don't answer the bloody phones... So I was forced to stand in line. It took a good 20 minutes to reach a teller, but I finally closed the last compromised Canadian chequing account, and deposited the last of the money from selling the D850.
I was just touching the exit door handle when Bobby called that his scooter was being delivered in 15 minutes... That was going to be my next stop anyway, just 5 blocks away.
I got Bobby to sign an IOU for the new scooter cost, just in case something happened to him before he is able to repay the loan. Better safe than sorry...
The delivery guy called that he had unloaded next to the picnic table.... We said WTF, there is no picnic table here... It turns out that he had been at my building where Bob used to live, and did not look at the address on the Bill Of Sale. So we waited another 20 minutes...
At last the scooter arrived and Bob was just beaming. It had come in time for him to run to a Doctor appointment at 1:45pm and save on cab fares (I would have driven him in the Regal if the scooter hadn't arrived anyway). But the smile on Bob's face was all I needed and I came home to unpack all my goodies from the morning trips.
Bobby is all excited about being able to watch his favourite Montreal Canadiens who should make the NHL playoffs this year, and the Edmonton Oilers later who have clinched a spot. Calgary and Vancouver are likely to be the only Canadian teams to miss the playoffs.
But, Bob's new $30 plan is not including tonight's game, so he may come over if I can manage to catch it, which I should.
Later, I need to watch Edmonton wrestle away home advantage from the Los Angeles Kings.... Go Edmonton GO.
I hope you enjoy the pictures. That was the day’s excitement.
