Sometimes, being in Ecuador makes so much sense when poor people like us can find vendors selling brand new clothing, like jean jackets, lined, with a hood, for $3. I didn't need any more jackets but this was too good to pass up.
I volunteered late to help with the Cuenca ArtWalk being held tonight and luckily was able to be a roaming ticket seller so I could also photograph the event at the same time.
Some incredible volunteers worked a long time to produce an ambitious event in the San Sebastian square over three venues and outside.
The weather did not cooperate and there was a competing charity event this evening but the small crowd was appreciative and enthusiastic. There was just so many items for sale and for auction for so few people. There were bingo games, readings, live entertainment and even tango dancers. Great snacks were available throughout the evening.
Sincere kudos to the many super volunteers who helped pull this off. You need to know that your hard work is appreciated, ... and not only by the kids on the earthquake-ravaged coast.
