Happy 27th Birthday to my grandson Cody.
Cristina could not go to work today because of the Carnaval holiday and no buses in our area.
I was very happy to be invited to go on a bike ride this morning by LT and Jeff. Toxic hadn't been out in about 10 days so this sort of run would do it good. We decided to head east and see f we could find our way to the top of El Tablon, or as I call it, Table Mountain, because that is on my bucket list. Jeff claimed that he possibly knew a route through Ricaurte so that is the route we took.
We got lost very quickly and had to backtrack a few times.
It became obvious to us that most of the locals did not know about the mountain (very strange) or any way to get there. Even the police were not much help.
We stopped in Ricaurte itself and, because of the weather, most Carnaval celebrations were pretty muted. We got shot with a SuperSoaker by a young girl but that was the extent of it as far as it concerned us. Carnaval in Ecuador consists of soaking anyone else with water, spray foam, etc. Some vicious ones will douse you with flour as well or cover you in pig grease.
I was lucky to get some shots of a young boy and his smaller sister foaming each other, and the determined smaller girl was getting the upper hand.
A little rain shower made us take cover for 5 minutes and then we continued our quest. After getting almost lost again we decided to call it a day.
