Tuesday December 31, 2013 HAPPY NEW YEAR
Here's hoping 2014 is much better than 2013.
Cuenca is an especially vibrant town for New Year's Eve. Everyone is selling effigies which are to be stuffed with notes of all the bad things that have happened to you in 2013, then the effigies are burned at midnight.
Joe's Secret Garden always hosts a New Year's Eve bash (based on Greenwich Mean Time) with lots of appetizers prior to a late gourmet meal. Then several other folks from the neighbourhood joined us to burn effigies about 9pm. I was lucky to be able to catch a cab home.
Fireworks then light up the sky all over the city, but I don't have a great view from my bedroom...
