Wednesday April 30, 2025

Tuesday, again, I went to Bob's new place to help move furniture, help the Shaw Cable guy to access the cable plugs, etc, break down boxes, and put up his shower curtain.

Bob was so happy to be able to shower again.

Then I came home, and emailed my Storyworth book PDF to my family, and packaged up the actual books for delivery to my children and grandchildren.

Then, we were happy to watch our Oilers beat the Kings right in L.A., so they can win the first round possibly at home tomorrow!  Go Oilers Go!

Today the bathroom scale was again awful to me!  I am going to have to recalibrate my eating habits again.

Around noon I picked a basic spray bottle at Dollarama then picked up Bob for a ride to the southwest corner of Edmonton to deliver 3 of my "Trials and Tribulations" books to the folks that gave that gift of making the stories happen.  I put them in the mailbox because I did not expect anyone to be home, but a Porsche hatchback in the driveway sure caught my attention!

Later, I got a Thank You text from my granddaughter who I thought was back in Australia!!!    I was going to deliver one to my son as well but his work schedule today would not allow that.  Maybe tomorrow....

We went by West Edmonton Mall because Bob wanted to get a towel rack on sale at the Bay.  We actually found a towel/sheet ladder for $25 less 40%.  Bob was happy, so we went to McDonald's for a celebratory meal again.

Then I brought him home and he gave me a couple of large bath towels that he does not use or like...

When I got home again I decided to tackle the window privacy film I had bought online.  I had been mulling how to cut and separate, etc for two days and I devised a system, because I was forced to use the new spray bottle...  The results are not exactly perfect but it really helps my peace of mind when I often wander "au naturel" in the apartment.  Only the small sliders needed to be covered to cut the angle from the parking lots below.  I still have more than 1/2 left, but I doubt that I will add more.... yet....

When I was done that I decided that I needed to address some bird's diarrhea attack on the Regal, blothed about 10 times, front to back..!!! That crap eats the paint if left unattended.  Again I surprised myself how easy it was to get off with Dawn PowerWash.

And, I just got asked to go play cribbage again tonight...  No rest for the wicked!

I hope you enjoy the pictures.  That was the day’s excitement.

Monday April 28, 2025

So, Friday and Sunday night our Oilers found their form and beat the L.A. Kings on our home ice to the delight of the Edmonton crowd. There are still 16 teams in the playoffs and too many to keep track for me.  Hockey was also Saturday and every day since.

Sunday, I drove the Regal over to Bob's and dismantled his doorbells and the door alarm I had got at his request.  They will be reinstalled later at his new place.  Then we went for a KFC celebratory supper as he was pretty well all packed and ready to move....

Today, I was at his place on the Gio with my little dolly because he had arranged for his move-out movers to arrive at noon, and the move-in at the new place for 2pm....

He kept calling his movers who were likely East Indian and virtually un-understandable.  We thought he had said 20 minutes, so when a truck showed up around 1pm, 2 Kurdish Arabs got out and we started packing the truck.  Close to 2pm, some woman comes from upstairs claiming we stole her movers!  And, later we found out, it was TRUE!!!  But we were almost done so they told her they would be back for 3pm, and she was fit to be tied, naturally!!!  She had a job later in the day...  We hustled the 5 blocks to the new place, the truck following my Gio so nobody got lost..

Bobby manned the door, and the son and I hustled 90% of the stuff in a reserved elevator, up 10 floors and down to the end of a hall to Bob's suite 1002.  The Dad was unloading the truck in the meantime and piling stuff for us at the elevator, so actually things went quite smoothly.  But I was sure glad that I had the foresight to wear my back brace or I would surely be suffering now.

So we were actually done around 3:30pm, the guys only asked for $300 (way less than the other guys wanted, but probably because I pitched in hard too).   Then they went back to load up the poor lady at the old place.  What a schmozzzzzle.....  The other movers called Bob at 3:00pm and said they were waiting at his door....  A**holes, so Bob told them where to stick their truck... being 3 hours late with no word.

So, Bob's place was semi-set-up by me and Bob was in decent shape and I needed to hustle back, return my dolly to my closet, and hoping to go downstairs to vote, because the voting booth here closed at 5pm...  Plus, I was waiting for 4 packages to be delivered, 3 by Amazon...  On the way, Bob's 4 doorstops fell out of my pockets on the sidewalk and I had to back up and retrieve them....

Once home, I grabbed my Election Canada card and went to grab my phone and my Driver's Licence for ID and I could not find my fanny pack anywhere....  INSTANT PANIC!!!!  So, I had to delay voting until I found my fanny pack!!!  I grabbed the Gio and retraced my route 3 times, checked in at a couple of stores to see if anyone turned it in, and checked every garbage can...  Nothing!!!

And I couldn't call Bob without a phone so I drove to his building, could not get him on the intercom because he is not on the board yet, so I walked in with another person like I owned the place...   I knocked on Bob's door and right away he asked me if I was missing my "purse"...  It was sitting on a stool in his hallway!  What a R E L I E F, as all the problems of lost phone and ID had almost collapsed my mind....

I was back home at 4:30pm and the line-up to vote was taking at least 10 minutes per person, 2 returning officers and only one voting booth and lots of immigrants, slow as molasses.  The line was just not moving.  Someone said we could get in right away at the voting station at the school across the street, so I went, and they claimed they had allowed some during the day but had been told "no more..." so I came back to the Manoir.   2 others were headed the same way, but didn't believe me, and so they were soon in the line behind me back at the Manoir....

So, our voting station was supposed to be only open 2-5pm, for 150 residents, and they were taking 10 minutes or more, PER PERSON, and some had been in line over 2 hours...  Do the math... 1500 minutes...  They were not closing at 5pm...!!  I was in line 1 hour the second time and was out of there in 3 minutes....  It is not rocket science if you know who you are voting for....  Now we can only hope the election goes our way and we throw out the free-spenders....

My packages were all at my door, stuff from Amazon and my "life history" from Storyworth,.. everything I had been waiting for, and not ONE delivery person had called me from the door which was right next to our voting line...   Grrrrr

Therefore, it has been a crazy day and I will sleep very well tonight.  Lots to do in the coming days too now...

I hope you enjoy the pictures.  That was the day’s excitement.
