I was commissioned by a friend to take photos of a "Quinceneras" (welcome to womanhood) 15th birthday party for the daughter of their Ecuadorian maid. I had never seen this ceremony before so I was curious. Deanna said it is just like a wedding, but without the groom... and she was absolutely right!
The young lady enters with a retinue of friends and then gets the adult treatment starting with new high-heeled shoes, make-up, jewelry, and her last childhood doll. She was even wearing 4 garters that were removed and placed on the legs of her 4 female attendants.
Everything was on Ecuador time, very late,... and we finally got to eat around 9:30.
It was a great time, with good food and convivial people.
I took many photos but will only post a few here.
