Saturday evening, I snuck out and hung one of my birdfeeders on the fence in front of my car.  I had to tape on a little backing protection from wind and rain.  Then I hooked up my extension cord outside and took my block heater cord from under the hood and hung it near the left headlight.  Now I am ready for the beginning of winter which can't be far away as the overnight temperatures drop daily in the 0C region.

Then, around 9pm, I got the sad news that one of my best friends of about 37 years, Keith Keers, had passed away that morning.  He and I began as co-workers and became fast friends as we played sports and worked together for about 4 different employers.  We loved playing volleyball and wallyball especially.  I was the set-up guy and he was the spiker and we made a good team.

Keith was always the first guy to offer help when we moved or needed a hand for anything.  For the last few years he suffered from a disease that robbed him of his musculature, devastating for a sportsman like him... but he did never dwell on his problems, always had a smile and a positive attitude, and lots of friends to take him for outings.  Family even took him on overseas trips!  That crazy Dutchman will be missed.

Saturday was a wild and wooly day for my favourite sports and players..  Canada's Rachel Homan won the GSOC Women's Curling Championship in Nisku.  Our Edmonton Oilers continue to badly underperform and lose too easily.  In the Formula 1 race in the USA my guy, Charles LeClerc came in 3rd, his niche spot... Canada's Dunstone lost to Scotland's Mouat in the GSOC Men's Curling.  My Calgary Stampeders stomped all over the Toronto Argonauts, then our Blue Jays won Game 6 to stay alive over Seattle.  What a great day!

Today, all attention was on the Blue Jays again for the deciding Game 7, with our entire country wanting to see them go to the World Series after a 32 year wait.  The team, which had more comeback wins than any team this year, and more wins than any team, did not disappoint!  Our wily leadoff veteran George Springer blasted a 3-run homer in the 7th inning to give us the lead late in the game.  And our closers did their job well.  Vladimir Guerrero Jr won the MVP for the American League as he has already tied the post-season record of 6 home runs with 3 other players.

So now Vladdy has 4 more games minimum against the LA Dodgers to blast himself into immortality.  Because of the incredible camaraderie on this team, we all feel like we are a part of it.  Go Blue Jays Go!!!

I hope you enjoy the pictures.  That was the day’s excitement.
