Yesterday, I tried to explain the process of getting IPTV set up here because people are really upset that their Telus channels have been scaled back. Then I took a run to Dollarama for a few supplies and snacks.
Almost finished a series of Vince Flynn books and we won't talk about how horrible the Edmonton Oilers are playing hockey in the playoffs....
Today, I got up late as usual, but had received Environment Canada warning about an afternoon/evening severe thunderstorm watch that could contain rain, hail, high winds and even tornadoes....
After chores, I went outside and it was 24C and sunny, with a blue sky. So I went for a walk with an eye on the sky.
It was too darn nice to stay indoors so I jumped on the Gio and went for a good ride, again keeping my eye on the sky for the storm expected around 4pm... (later changed to 6pm, but is starting now at 5pm). I went to the south side via the High Level Bridge and followed the southern escarpment of the North Saskatchewan. I went all the way along to 99 Street, my batteries still looked good, so I continued down 99 St (Scona Road) to the Low Level Bridge, intending to take the Funicular up to the MacDonald Hotel before heading back home.
Of course, the Funicular was down for maintenance and I was worried about using too much battery power to climb up the north escarpment but I had little choice, going up Grierson Hill to 96 Street.
Oh, just got another Environment Canada storm warning via Alexa that it may last until around 8:24pm.... Nothing too serious has happened so far.... but the thunder, wind and rain is starting. A look at the Weather Channel radar images shows that we should miss the severe part of the storm......
I hope you enjoy the pictures. That was the day’s excitement.
