NOTE: It is obvious that many (all?) of you are not receiving the subscription emails and it is obviously a universal Google problem that they have not solved yet.  Therefore I REALLY appreciate all the folks that manage to view my Blog every day.  I find it both gratifying and humbling.

Sorry for the dearth of Blog posts this week, but medical appointments, Cristina being under the weather, and lack of sleep have not been very condusive for much of anything else.
Navigating the IESS system is time-consuming but necessary for their checks and balances I suppose.  When you finally get the initial doctor's appointment, you have to see that doctor, get his diagnosis, take that to the main office for approval, get the tests done, take them to the doctor for analysis, get approval at IESS for further tests, get the tests done, take them to the doctor for approval and recommendations,..  and on and on until you can get scheduled for surgery...
One of our friends has taken up the gauntlet and is hosting a dinner and dance, also at Villa San Carlos this Saturday for $20 a head.  While I have heard some grumbling about the price, they will probably have about 100 people signed up and I couldn't be more pleased.  I hope it turns out well and that they will continue the dances monthly.
A fellow named Pedro advertised about updating Garmin devices with Ecuador, Peru and Colombia maps for $25 so I called to have my 2 devices updated.  However one of my Garmins has a very dead battery so it wasn't able to boot up, even on the charger.  So I then had to update Toxic to have an accessory plug-in to be able to run the Garmin on the road!  I checked with several mechanics and auto-electric ouitlets and finally found one with the right covered 12V plug-in.
Even though I had fallen asleep after supper until almost 8pm I rushed to join the Herederos at the Puente Roto for the Thursday night ride.  I was shocked to see so many bikes (16), people (20), and new faces (8).  We had a nice roundabout ride including Remigio Crespo, La Condamine, Calle Larga, Solano, Don Bosco, the Autopista, culminating at Turi.  We had a nice snack with warm drinks up higher on the mountain and we were pleasantly surprised when Pierino picked up the bill.  I am glad that I woke up in time for this lovely outing.
I hope you enjoy the photos.  That was the day's excitement,   Cheers, Al
